About FlightSpan™ Ops

FlightSpan™ Ops was originally developed to support the flight operations of YAJASI, a non-profit organization serving remote, isolated communities in Papua, Indonesia. Unable to identify a flight operations software package suited to their type of work, YAJASI commissioned Zach Osterloo, one of their pilots who was also a gifted software developer, to design and build a software solution to help manage their flight operation. Zach’s hard work produced Flight Serve, which was first put into service in May of 2016. Zach continued to develop Flight Serve until 2019.

Part of YAJASI and Zach’s original intent in developing Flight Serve was to create a product that could be used by other humanitarian and mission flight operations operating in similarly remote contexts around the world. To that end, in 2020, JAARS, Inc. embraced this vision and took responsibility for the support and further development of Flight Serve, building a team of developers to further expand the software’s capabilities and position the software to be scaled for use in a broad number of contexts.

In 2021 JAARS changed the name of Flight Serve to FlightSpan™ Ops. Currently, FlightSpan™ Ops is used to support approximately 7,000 flights per year in some of the most remote and difficult flight environments on the planet.
